Review of In the Land of Blood and Honey (2011) by Gary K — 11 Jan 2012
I lived in Bosnia during the war and I think the narrative here is totally credible and the film is very nuanced. It captures the varietal violence, anxiety, victim dependency, absurdity and mood of the people at the time very well.
It's hard to read these reviews and connect them to the film I just saw. If there is a problem with this film it is that it is too much of an insiders film and too sophisticated for an uninformed audience.
The critics should stick to Tin Tin and Alvin and the Chipmunks.
