Really a superb film. Perhaps difficult to grasp, if you haven't had a glimpse of the brutal realities of war, or perhaps because it shows these brutal realities in all their complexity, it doesn't seem to be as popular as it deserves.
A very finally crafted film, on the most important of topics. Watch it, but don't expect some polished Hollywood happy ending.
