Review of In the Heat of the Night (1967) by Neil B — 22 Nov 2007
Having an African-American in a leading role in a film in the 60's was controversial in itself. This is a wonderful film about the struggles of one homicide detective trapped in a town full of racial hatred and how he develops a unique and often verbally rocky relationship with the town's sheriff in order to solve a murder.
Wonderful performances followed by some very interesting camera work for that time period. A great movie overall!
