Review of In the Heat of the Night (1967) by Mike J — 04 Feb 2008
Sidney Poiter is one of the greatest actors to ever hit the screen. He was like the Denzel Washington of the 50's through the 70's. In The Heat Of The Night is an engaging film that covers alot of controversial subjects such as racism and abortion.
This film has the classic line, "They Call Me Mr. Tibbs" for everyone to freak out about...well at least I did anyway.. But anyways; it is really entertaining to see this head strong black cop keep his cool through all the racial slurs and sterotypes given out by the redneck lawsmen he works with.
With all the crap he takes, in the end, he is the winner. A great who done it type of film. Sidney Poiter was amazing in this, and this is an amazing film. A Classic.
