Whether or not you agree with the fact that this film beat "The Graduate" for Best Picture, there's stil little denial that it's a enormous entertainment from start to finish, and that's a rarity in today's cinema.
Sidney Poitier has never been better, nor has Rod Steiger, and everytime they argue onscreen, the experience is mind-blowing. But any 1960's film featuring a black man hitting a white guy is usually a guaranteed great, anyway.
Norman Jewison's best film.
