I just finished reading Mark Harris' "Pictures at a Revolution", which looked at the 5 best picture nominees for 1967. That led me to go re-watch the 3 brilliant movies from that group, and this is one of them.
Steiger is brilliant, as is Portier. The racism is palpable, and the story is still riveting over forty years later.
