Review of In the Heat of the Night (1967) by Mike H — 08 Jun 2008
Powerful film that deals with some pretty big racial issues especially for the time of the 60s. Rod Steiger and Sidney Poitier's tension is intense as is the well done writing of the film. Poitier tries to make do with the little he is allowed to have in backwater Mississippi for the detective case.
The writing and racial tensions make this a great study of the ideas of Southern racism.
