I might not fully grasp how important this movie was seeing it in 2008 but I have a good idea. Poitier and Steiger are outstanding. You can slowly see them become more and more accepting of each other but there isn't some big sappy lets hug it out scene.
While the actual police investigation is sub par the dialogue and performances are brilliant.
