'In the Heat of the Night' was one of the fist films to significantly explore racism. A strong crime thriller, best known for Sidney Poitier's immortal line; "They call me Mr.Tibbs.", the films standout performance is Rod Steiger, as the back-water Sheriff, who forms an unlikely partnership with the black detective.
