Review of In the Heat of the Night (1967) by Lauren D — 28 May 2009
A great film here that works both as a crime drama and as a piece of racial relations in tensions in the south. Ray Charles along with Quincy Jones makes one of the greatest original songs in the history of cinema.
This is a great film and its two stars Poitier and Stieger never let the tension die down. A great social piece and a classic film. Poitier plays such a strong black figure here and you can see why he was so vital for the movement of African Americans in cinema.
What a brave and strong man and actor.
