Review of In the Heat of the Night (1967) by Bradley K — 22 Feb 2014
Sidney Poitier had quite a year in 1967, and this movie was the best of the bunch. He and Rod Steiger have a funny, powerful chemistry that lifts to film into heights the screenplay couldn't do. Featuring one of the most famous moments in movie history, in which Virgil Tibbs slaps a white man, the movie is full of tense moments and suspense that makes it one of the greatest thrillers of all-time.
It is possibly both Steiger's and Poitier's finest moments on screen.
