Review of In the Heart of the Sea (2015) by Coreyvictoria C — 18 Dec 2015

This movie deserves higher ratings than it is getting. I saw it in IMAX 3D and was blown away by the cinematography. The storyline is tight and well-paced, and the acting is generally solid, the best being the young Thomas Nickerson.

The one criticism that I think is deserving is the relatively shallow character development of the two main antagonists - Captain George Pollard and First Mate Owen Chase. Much more could have been done to explore their relationship and how it changed through the hardships they endured.

But in terms of pure entertainment and sensory richness, this is a fine film for the holiday season.
