Review of In the Heart of the Sea (2015) by Collin S — 12 Dec 2015
I've been a fan of Chris hemsworth for sometime now. This movie did not disappoint as far as his performance goes. I went into this movie with no expectations set, and came out fairly impressed. For starters, Ron Howard knows how to direct.
This movie is shot nicely and told well. Props Mr. Howard. The score in this movie is very well done and has those large orchestra pieces that are beautiful and moving that really add to the movie. I'll cut to the chase: it would've been better if it were a movie about Moby Dick, NOT how it was inspired.
The whale was the most interesting part of the movie. Granted it was mostly CGI (I'm not just talking about the whales, most of the sets are CGI) it could have benefitted from some practical effects here and there.
I didn't really care about the survival aspect of the story. I mean it intrigued me but not as much as a real killer white whale might have. Overall a worthwhile trip to the local theater.
