Review of In the Heart of the Sea (2015) by Aixa L — 14 Dec 2015
It is a shame that the success of a movie is gauged merely in numbers. Today as I prepared for a our movie date and wanting some return in my investment I decided to read some of the reviews for In the Heart of the Sea. After reading a few I was skeptical, and quite honestly I have been craving the new James Bond offering, so I am guilty as well; however, schedules did not agree and we were feeling a bit adventurous, thank goodness.
This movie is a jewel amongst the so predictable plots that I, as a movie goer, have become accustomed, much like my favorite franchise restaurant, but every once in while a delightful dish comes our way from an unexpected source. It is such a well told story that grabbed me from the beginning and I was loss in it, until the end. It is always pleasing when a well-known actor erases any semblance of previous roles to the point that allows you to embrace that character fully and I had totally forgotten about Thor.
I must admit that the not so savory parts of this story in my opinion are those that give it such gusto, because, under those circumstances it would be difficult to rule them out; which, begs to question if the timing of the release might of hindered its success, monetarily speaking. There have been many the occasions in which I have chosen to watch something uplifting and light in lieu of a robust story; however, these light and uplifting types of movies do not sate the craving for plots with more substance and in this account In the Heart of the Sea has left me replete.
