My hubby and I thought the movie was outstanding. Yes, it does resemble an "old time" type of adventure yarn, but that's what this story needed. The book was great, and the "dramatic license" that Ron Howard took to adapt it was very well done.
In my opinion, most of those naysaying critics are all wet!
