Review of In the Heart of the Sea (2015) by Tony P — 01 Jan 2016
Understandably they avoided some of the more difficult subjects in the book, playing down the cannabilism, racism and horrific effects of starvation. They take the Moby Dick angle and milked it, bending the truth I suspect for dramatic effect.
All that to one side it's a very good film showing clearly the tensions between the captain and first mate. It does favour Chase, again for dramatic effect, whereas Nickerson's account clearly showed Chase's own distortion of the facts.
Well worth seeing.
