Review of In the Heart of the Sea (2015) by Ant S — 07 Jan 2016
Surprisingly good. Ron Howard is a great director as this can be seen with the interesting camera angles and extreme close ups throughout. The acting is superb all the way through with the only problem being that the accents are slightly off-putting as they move from Irish to American to British to Boston.
The make-up of the emaciated crew works amazingly well and the beats that are taken before and after something horrific happens is handled well. The main downside is the shakey-cam. Several times I wasn't sure who was who and what was going on but in the end it all added to how disorientating the ocean can be.
