Review of In the Heart of the Sea (2015) by Justin C — 08 Apr 2016
Philbrick's novel is very good, but it's also very academic so I'm not surprised that the Hollywood film adaption takes liberties . . . however, this screenplay is absolutely ridiculous. That being said Howard, who is usually uninteresting, directs the hell out it.
If you tune out the dialogue and plot and just watch for the gorgeous visual design and terrifying action sequences there is enjoyment to be found.
