Review of In the Electric Mist (2009) by Suzanne S — 02 Aug 2010
I gave it an extra star just 'cause it has Tommy Lee Jones in it and it was filmed in Louisiana, so we enjoyed identifying locales, even if Tommy Lee's accent is down-home Texan (it's not "La-fay-ette," it's "Laffy-ette").
John Goodman is kind of fun, and Ned Beatty plays against type. As such stories go, it's pretty run-of-the-mill. Lots of unnecessary, unrealistic violence; even in Louisiana, such blatant police brutality would rate an investigation.
I'm still working on the killer's motive, other than simply "psychopath." Music's good, and it's the first movie I've seen that includes a crawfish boil.
