Review of In the Cut (2003) by Ryan M — 14 Nov 2004
[indent]This was a very disappointing film. It's a murder mystery/crime thriller woven together with high dollar soft porn that is very simplistic and not very creative. The whodunnit part of the film wasn't hard to figure out. You should have it solved by the halfway point of the movie. As a thriller it failed miserably, it was about as thrilling as getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Another major problem with the film was that it was too dingy and the characters were too ridiculously disturbed which made the film completely unbelievable. Was there a no bathing rule on the set? I remember after watching this that I had a strong need to go take a bath. Another major unsettling aspect of this film was the number of times you're exposed to Mark Ruffalo's "Willy". I really didn't need to see that.
If you're one of those people that think that taking a dump in a soup can is art, you might like this, but if you're one of those people that live in the real world and you have the ability to call crap "crap" when you see it, then avoid this because it's CRAP.
