Review of In the Company of Men (1995) by Muhammad K — 31 Aug 2012
You could be forgiven for calling this film misogynistic, but Neil LaBute's cruel but darkly comic feature is an interesting character study of the ways in which ordinary people prey upon the vulnerable and attempt to exploit them for no personal gain but primary redemption.
Aaron Eckhart's character of Chad must surely go down as one of the most sleazy characters to appear in cinema whilst Stacy Edwards is utterly brilliant and enormously sympathetic as the deaf victim of the lead characters' plan in a picture which is cleverly written and thoroughly intriguing considering the unpredictability that the film so cleverly orchestrates.
