Review of In the Bedroom (2001) by Jacob N — 20 Feb 2008
This is one of those movies that it is best to watch without knowing anything about the plot.
That being said, the film is nicely divided into two parts, and the acting is superb tracing the changes in the characters from the first half to the second.
Like No Country, the music is very understated and appropriate when used. They rely on sound effects, like the replay of the WEEI Sox broadcast, to carry the moods in the scenes.
Just an all around very good film. This is the type of movie I expect from an Academy Award best picture nomination... unlike Juno.
