Review of In Search of a Midnight Kiss (2007) by Michaelina D — 24 Oct 2008
Could I have loved this movie any more? The characters were real, lovable even with their flaws, and the actors' chemistry was tangible. The B&W filming made it even more romantic, like it was a documentary rather than a movie.
I can see myself watching this every New Year's Eve for the rest of my life, and forcing everyone else to watch it too. It's smart, it's quirky, the soundtrack is impeccable (The song about pacing when he's pacing in the subway station? A cute touch without being overly cloying), and the message it leaves you with is far from the typical Hollywood lovey-doveyness (as is only to be expected from an indie flick): Sometimes you've got to get that umbrella, and get out there and party.
