Review of In Her Shoes (2005) by Selena P — 18 Aug 2008
Surprisingly above average fare, due largely to the sparky, credible love-hate chemistry shared by Toni Colette and Cameron Diaz as bickering sisters, along with a stellar turn from Shirley MacLaine. For this movie 'type', familial and personal relationships are explored in unusual and refreshing depth between grown children and parents, siblings and grandparents commonly overlooked or ill-handled on 'light-hearted' dromedy ground.
Also successfully and warmly tackles illiteracy, low self-esteem and complex rifts. Slick, witty, engaging and well worth watching.
