Review of In Her Shoes (2005) by Michael D — 15 May 2009
How did I miss this when it first came out? A love/hate relationship of two sisters--complete opposites--is unflinchingly put on display. Daughters of an untreated, mentally ill mother, it was fascinating to learn how their personal dysfunctions developed in response to their mother's illness, and heartwarming to watch each of them grow in their areas of weakness and appreciation of each other.
Not quite a drama, the movie is filled with insight and character development. Not quite a romantic comedy, at times it's hilarious. Even my husband got sucked in and liked it, despite himself. I definitely recommend it.
