Review of In Her Shoes (2005) by Teia O — 22 Feb 2010
Awful and long. When Edmund Hillary was asked why he climbed Mt St Helen, he said "it was there.".
I said the same thing kind of.
I know, I know, it wasn't Mt. St Helen, it was Pike's Peak, it was snowing, he had no shoes at the end, he was bleeding. His sherpa was dead and eaten, dried blood flecked against his mask as he hacked and clawed at the snow and the slightly rotund English gentleman was raving and in his delusions the Northern Lights whipped around him and he called them Thomas, his dead valet from his strangled youth, the thing now a sweetness like an almost forgotten bruise played with in a moment of distracted boredom.
