Review of In Fear (2013) by Mick G — 28 Aug 2015
Oftentimes the thing that we fear the most is not knowing what it is that we are afraid of, where we're headed, what's happening, or why we are even afraid - and fear grows from that premise . . . making everything we encounter a threat. This process is captured quite perfectly in this psychological "horror" film about an idyllic drive through the Irish countryside . . . sort of.
It may not be appropriate to call this a horror film - certainly not in the slasher sense. This is more about the psychological & emotional process of horror - how it starts, how it builds, how it is nurtured, how it causes us to react, and when it crosses the line.
If you prefer violent slasher films, this probably isn't for you.
