Review of In America (2003) by James M — 14 Jan 2014
A genuinely beautiful and moving drama about a family of Irish immigrants struggling to settle in America. I've always rated Samantha Morton as an actress, she rarely disappoints with her performances and she's as good as ever in this, as the mother of the struggling family, married to emotionless Paddy Considine.
The two Irish girls who play the children were real-life sisters and their performances are fantastic for young actresses. Djimon Hounsou is also excellent as the family's mysterious neighbour who harbours a sad secret.
Special mention for Gavin Friday & Maurice Seezer's music.
