Quirk little indie comedy that were ten a penny twenty years ago. This film is funny and smart. The script skilfully interweaves satire and family drama.
In portraying the world of voice-over trailers, Bell's gift is playing it straight. There's no need to accentuate the comedy - it does that for itself. I particularly loved Eva Longoria's lessons on how to say "don't be a stupid slapper" like an Essex Girl.
However, the film also plays as a charming RomCom. The voice-over world's ugly duckling gets to blossom and find love for the final reel.
