Review of In a World... (2013) by John M — 19 Jul 2014
Standard independent movie, filled with random "quirky" characters and dialogue. The movie is supposed to be about the voice-over world, but instead is about a bunch of stock quirky independent-film characters who are impossible to believe in, since they are saddled with (guess!) quirky dialogue and quirky situations.
Only the rare voice-over scenes ring remotely true. The rest doesn't.
Lake Bell is best known for showing off her boobs on the Internet, which certainly undercuts any believability she might have as a filmmaker.
The cinematography is TV-level, with flat lighting and uninteresting compositions.
Definitely skippable. And, actually, pretty irritating stuff. I was very glad when it was over!
