Review of In a Lonely Place (1950) by Priscilla E — 13 Apr 2008
A very good film noir full of strong performances particularly from the charismatic and riveting Bogey. It is surprisingly dark for its time daring to put one of Hollywood's biggest stars in a highly amoral role.
I also love the snappy and sharp dialogue between Bogey and Gloria Grahame (reminiscent of the Bacall and Bogey exchanges): "I said I liked your face, I didn't say I wanted to kiss it." It's a crime that this film is not as well known as Ray's other great film 'Rebel.
