Review of In a Lonely Place (1950) by Alexandre R — 22 Jun 2009
It begins like a mystery thriller, but soon changes it's mood into a romance film noir, being more like "Casablanca" than, say, "The Maltese Falcon". Bogart plays the variation of Rick Blaine, although this role seems to be a little bit more complex.
There are also some classy, well-written noirish lines that serve as a spicy seasoning to this very nice Hollywood-on-Hollywood movie, one of the better of the genre and in the same league as "Sunset Blvd.
".
