Review of Impulse (1974) by Dave S — 30 Dec 2009
If we were to categorize B movies by what sort of appeal/entertainment they still offer, this one would be all about cultural contingencies. Do you find William Shatner inherently funny? How amused are you by the fashions and home decor of the 1970s? How about the oh-so 70s overuse of zoom, rack focus, and day-for-night shooting? If that shade of sleaze sounds right up your alley, then congrats and enjoy.
As for me, the Shatner factor didn't carry me as far as I'd hoped, although it is fun watching him square off against a bratty child actress and then chase OddJob through an automatic car wash.
Things pick up towards the end, but a lot of this is pretty slow moving.
