Review of Impromptu (1991) by Megan F — 05 Aug 2007
Several notable actors besides the leads (Bernadette Peters, Emma Thompson, Mandy Patinkin) convene to wear period costumes and engage in artsy hijinks. It's a shame that a film about one of the 19th century's most famous love affairs had to resort to rom-com cliches, but neverthless I stayed up late to finish it on cable.
Made me want to research the persons involved, the mark of a good period piece. Lovely soundtrack too. "But your conversation is not witty and you have no ideals.".
