Review of Imperium (2016) by Anthony K — 25 Aug 2016
I was really impressed by Imperium. It would be easy to see this as an unauthorized successor to American History X, but I really don't think that's the case. This is more a case study on the tactics, as well as the personalities preyed upon, which convert recruits to extreme causes.
It's a sensitive film, well-acted, well-directed film that also manages to be highly educational with regard to the separatist jargon and philosophies White Supremacists tend to adhere to (I certainly logged some Google searches while watching that I hope haven't placed me on a watch list).
Daniel Radcliffe's American accent is distractingly inconsistent, but the passion and intensity he brings to his role is admirable, and overall it totally works. Well done.
