Review of Immortals (2011) by Adam F — 15 Mar 2013
"Immortals" is a visually impressive and original take on the greek myths we are familiar with although the story and characters could have used some fleshing out. The costumes, sets and designs are gorgeous and very different from the traditional interpretations of Greek Gods and myths we've seen before.
For fans sword and sandal type action films, "Immortals" has strong action scenes that are brutal and original. This is a violent action film that doesn't pull it's punches and it's a shame that it falls short on some of the character development and story.
Still, for the action and visual style, it's thrilling and a lot of fun. The Blu-ray special features are also very well done and informative, giving unique insights on the development that went into the film and it's clear that the director Tarsem Singh has a lot of enthusiasm for the project.
