A beautifully designed and well composed film that's pretty much empty in terms of character, story and emotion. Gorgeous production design, lighting and cinematography. An appealing cast. So much potential, but little realization.

The script is the core problem with this film. Director Tarsem has an incredible eye for style and beauty in everything, but he's missing the psychological and emotional elements here that helped fuel his style into something more with The Cell and The Fall.

There was a thrilling and chilling weirdness and fearful tension in The Cell that brought that story to life for me. And a quirky quaintness and fairytale enthusiasm in The Fall that made it more interesting.

But Immortals is mostly eye candy that failed to grab me and hold me. It felt lake a secondary copy of 300. I really hope Tarsem brings his talents to a better script at some point. Only then will his iconic and epic style be put to its proper use.
