Review of Immortals (2011) by John G — 05 Dec 2013
Since 300 came out many swords and sandals type shows and films like this and Spartacus try to recapture it's glory. However what it gained with immersive set pieces and CGI it lacked in solid dialogue, specifically Theseus's speech, and a wrong direction for the Gods.
The Greek Gods seemed more like models posing golden armor than actual warriors to be feared or praised, this is no part to blame on the actors playing them but of the direction themselves. While the fight scenes were mostly good the final fight scene seemed off, the gods and the titans both moved fast but when the gods struck one the titan's body moved in slow motion while everything else was still at the same speed, while it looked cool after a few seconds it became jarring.
