Review of Immortals (2011) by Guido S — 04 Jan 2014
One of the early movies to jump on the 3D craze and also riding the wave of 300, Henry Cavill sees his mother get her throat cut. He is trying to stop Mickey Rourke from getting a sacred bow and keeping Freida Pinto safe.
The story isn't really that important as this is mostly a visual spectacle. I can see how it would look great in 3D. The visuals are unique and feel very surreal and dreamlike, so I'll give the director credit for the look of the film since it wasn't quite what I expected and was refreshing.
The story, unfortunately, suffers as a result. I can forgive that since these mostly all have a similar revenge or save-the-village story. Better than I expect this to be. Not as good as 300, but a good film to throw on and turn off the brain for a few hours.
