This CGI-laden, mythical swords and sandals epic might not be exceptional, but is nonetheless a competently produced piece with engaging performances from Henry Cavill, Freida Pinto, Stephen Dorff and Joseph Morgan; Mickey Rourke is fun as the villain of the piece, though Isabel Lucas adds yet another lifeless screen appearance to her résumé.
The team involved are obviously confident with the material at hand, resulting in an overall entertaining action movie.
