Review of Immortals (2011) by James W — 11 Dec 2013
An incredibly dark and visually striking adventure into the world of Greek mythology, aided by breathtaking set design and a brilliant cast. Immortals is the most bloody yet stylish movie I've seen in a while, with Mickey Rourke showing his merciless side as he gives a spectacular performance as the evil King Hyperion! Tarsem Singh' bold and brutal direction turns Immortals into an instant epic, and not only is it a mythical adventure, it's also a scary movie at times with unsettling images, incredible violence and really cool sound design, and the opening shot of the imprisoned titans biting down on steel rods is frightening.
Henry Cavill proves himself a strong action star, definitely a recommendation from me.
