Immortal Beloved is a movie that can make anyone interested in the legend that is Beethoven. For future reference, this is a review of the bluray release of Immortal Beloved.

Gary Oldman stars as Beethoven himself. Immortal Beloved is a spectacular film that I thoroughly enjoyed, I'll go point by point with the presentation as well as the movie itself.

The quality of this transfer on bluray is astonishing. It's an older movie so it's age shows with the natural grain that's present on the picture but it's not distracting or annoying, it's just natural grain. Colors are vivid and lifelike, skin tones are pristine and costumes/scenery come out looking gorgeous.

The audio is obviously what any Beethoven fan is looking forward to. Let me just say that the audio in this movie is absolutely fantastic and the mix is superb. Dialogue even when it's at a whisper is still clear and distinct, the big booming symphonies come out sounding marvelous and breathtaking.

Bottom line is: if you're a fan of Beethoven, get this movie. If you haven't seen it yet, why not?! If you're remotely a fan of his music you should consider giving it a rental or a watch on your cable provider, but nothing beats the bluray disc for quality and extras.
