Review of Imitation of Life (1959) by Benjamin B — 20 Sep 2007
One of Sirk's masterpieces, and possibly one of his most subversive works. The subtext and racial issues completely override the typical melodrama plot that the film follows, leaving you with one of the darker endings in film history.
Standout performances by everyone, but especially by Juanita Moore.
