Review of Imagine That (2009) by Case T — 29 Jul 2009
At the end, I lowered my eyebrows, pushed my chin out, tilted my head slightly, and gave a slight reserved nod. Thinking to myself "okay". Although the message is sound as Eddie Murphy's character tries to figure out how to go from being a work-a-holic father to a more caring father, the show itself just missed something.
But at the same time, I had the first listed reaction of partial and reserved approval. Maybe it is because I too have a daughter and it's really hard to put down a movie that says "dad's need to have more fun and give more time to their daughters".
Eddie Murphy is not as over the top, and actually plays the more serious character (see stock broker rival Whitefeather). The show is "pleasant", based on a solid principle, and rated PG for a little bit of language.
I am not sure what younger children are going to think, but in the end, if you need a family film, give it a shot and let me know what you think.
