Review of Imagine That (2009) by James A — 09 Aug 2009
Hard to know what's more desperate here: the positively sectionable, wild-eyed mania with which the star is trying to make us forget his various paternity issues and pass himself off as a latter-day Cliff Huxtable, or the doomed attempt to set a heartwarming family comedy within the jolly world of high finance.
As it is, the under-tens are going to find all the talk of magnesium futures unutterably tedious, while - despite an over-qualified supporting cast - there's less for parents to cheer than there was in "Daddy Day Care" or "Norbit".
The all-Beatles soundtrack climaxes with a barf-inducing singalong to "All You Need Is Love"; "Money (That's What I Want)" may have been more apt.
