Review of Imagine That (2009) by Claudio G — 31 Oct 2009
You know, Eddie Murphy has an uncanny ability of picking roles for movies that are groomed for success, yet they just end up failing miserably. Maybe the audience is just sick of seeing Eddie Murphy do all these family movies.
I know I am. Not because I don't enjoy Eddie Murphy if you really let him cut loose, it's just that the style that made him famous isn't really suited for family movies, so it's sometimes just sad to see him have cut back on what he's able and not able to do.
One thing though, I think he works great with kids. Seeing him work with kids, it's very apparent that he does seem to be having fun with the kids and the kids seem to be having fun working with him so that's always good and it shows in this movie as well.
So with that said, this movie is ok at best. It's an acceptable family movie, it's nothing really unique or wonderful. Can't say I expected it to be, but the little girl is actually kind of adorable so that works in this movie's favor.
I don't know what else to say about this movie honestly, it's just another movie in the dead family movie genre.
