Review of Imagine That (2009) by Eric C — 04 Feb 2010
Where the hell did this film come from. I never even saw any advertisements for it. I borrowed it from a family friend because I am a huge Eddie Murphy fan (starting with Delirious) and an occasional fan of traditional family films.
The film is filled with cliches and jokes found in many of these films, but its still quite a good film. That has to go with the acting by the young actress Yara Shahidi and Eddie Murphy as the neglectful father, who begins using his daughter to bring his job up. Thomas Haden Church plays his competition, a very touchy feel businessman, who is always going for businesses Murphy is against.
Like I said we get the cliches, over worked father begins to spend time with his daughter for wrong reasons, she finds out the truth and is heart broken and than he realizes how important she is to him. Ronny Cox and Martin Sheen have minor roles as top businessmen and are great as well. Its fun to see them in these kinds of roles after all these years. 4 out of 5 stars.
