Review of Imagine Me & You (2006) by Jonathan W — 15 Aug 2008
As cliched and predictable as this film is, I can't help but find it a charming, breezy romantic comedy. "Imagine Me & You" is, essentially, a by-the-numbers rom-com, following every rule in the book; well, almost every rule - the romantic couple at hand is a lesbian couple.
Besides that bit of a plot twist revealed early on, you could basically be watching any Julia Roberts comedy. Piper Perabo ("Coyote Ugly") is 100% adorable as the bride who comes "out", and Lena Headey is presentable as her significant other.
The two share enough chemistry that their love affair is easy to believe, and Matthew Goode as Perabo's newlywed husband is comically inspiring. If you like sweet-natured romantic comedies, you can't go wrong with this film.
