Review of Imagine Me & You (2006) by Steven P — 24 Dec 2008
This is so unfair, because on paper "lesbian love story starring Piper Perabo" should amount to a film that I would love. And it's got a lot going for it, including a great cast (Celia Imrie! Sharon Horgan! Sue Johnstone! Mona Hammond, all too briefly!), but the script is just too hamfisted to make this a great film.
It succeeds as a romantic fantasy, but I was hoping for a little more plausibility and a little less contrivance. Still, I was impressed by how much chemistry Lena Headey and Piper Perabo developed, and Perabo's plummy English accent was adorable.
