It kind of tries to be American Beauty, and let's face it, nothing even comes close. There are a few deep and meaningful scenes, peppered with some clever dark humor and great performances by Sigourney Weaver, Jeff Daniels, and Emile Hirsch, but ultimately the film is poorly paced and lacking in overall unity.
